Islamabad (Pakistan News) The federal government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court against the court’s decision to transfer PTI founding chairman Imran Khan to a private hospital.
The petition, filed by the Chief Commissioner Islamabad through the Advocate General Islamabad, states that the Supreme Court directed on August 18, through an interim order, that Imran Khan be transferred to Shifa Hospital. However, the petition argues that the decision exceeds the court’s jurisdiction and should therefore be reviewed.
It may be recalled that the Supreme Court had ordered the transfer of Imran Khan to a private hospital the previous day and also directed the formation of a medical board for his medical examination.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf welcomed the court’s decision and said it would comply with the order and that no politics would be played regarding Imran Khan’s political affairs.
Meanwhile, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar had already indicated that the government would file a review petition against the court’s decision to transfer Imran Khan to a private hospital so that his medical examination could be conducted at a government hospital.
