Islamabad (Abaseen News) Due to heavy rain in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, all relevant departments have been directed to remain on high alert.
According to the Meteorological Department, 43 mm of rain was recorded in Saidpur, 5 mm in Golra, 43 mm at PMD, 12 mm in New Katarian, 4 mm in Pirwadhai, and 2 mm in Shamsabad.
The Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi has directed all departments to remain on high alert, saying that a rain emergency is in effect in the city.
According to WASA officials, the water flow in Nullah Lai is being continuously monitored. At Katarian, the water flow is 5 feet, while at Gawalmandi it is 3 feet. Staff equipped with heavy machinery is present in low-lying areas.
It may be recalled that on Tuesday, after 230 mm of rain in Rawalpindi, streets and roads had turned into streams, vehicles were submerged, while water had entered homes in low-lying areas.
Two people had died in separate incidents involving electrocution at a house in Rawalpindi and a roof collapse in Islamabad.
