Mumbai (Showbiz Desk) Twenty-eight-year-old social media influencer Manjeet Kaur from Indian Punjab died during treatment nearly two months after she was allegedly abducted, assaulted and set on fire.
According to Indian media, Manjeet Kaur died on August 26 at PGIMER Chandigarh, where she had been receiving treatment for severe burn injuries. Manjeet Kaur was divorced and had a seven-year-old son.
According to a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, on July 3, two acquaintances named Shubhi and Pinda called Manjeet Kaur to meet near a liquor shop in Sector 34, Chandigarh. The two individuals allegedly forced her into a vehicle and took her to Morinda in Punjab’s Rupnagar district.
It is alleged that the suspects assaulted Manjeet Kaur there, tied her to a mulberry tree and set her on fire. During the incident, one of Manjeet’s friends arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire using a blanket.
Manjeet Kaur was initially admitted to a hospital in Morinda and was later shifted to Mohali. However, due to the severity of her burns, she was transferred to PGIMER Chandigarh on July 9. She remained unconscious for several weeks.
According to the report, Manjeet Kaur regained consciousness briefly on August 5 and informed her family about the alleged incident. However, her condition deteriorated again, and she died on August 26.
