Instagram to Crack Down on AI-Generated Fake Accounts

Lahore (Web Desk) Instagram has announced that it will take stricter action against accounts that appear to show profiles of real people but are actually based on fictional characters created through artificial intelligence.

After receiving complaints from users, Instagram has decided to change its policy regarding accounts featuring fictional personalities created using artificial intelligence. Such accounts will not be completely shut down; however, the labeling will be changed to make their identity clear.

According to Instagram, the existing “AI Creator” label will be changed to “AI Generated Profile” so that users can easily know that the relevant profile is based on a character created through artificial intelligence rather than a real person.

The company says that access to fictional AI profiles that do not have an appropriate label will also be limited, as a result of which posts from such accounts will be able to reach fewer users.

According to Instagram, this change has been made following feedback received from users. The platform began testing the “AI Creator” label at the beginning of this year, with the aim of addressing the growing trend of fictional characters and profiles created using artificial intelligence.

Through the new policy, Instagram wants to help users understand whether the profile in front of them belongs to a real person or is based on a fictional identity created through artificial intelligence.
