Key Decision in View of Flood Risks, Emergency Survey of Protective Embankments Ordered

Islamabad (Pakistan Desk) The federal government has decided to conduct a joint survey of river embankments ahead of the monsoon season in view of potential flood risks, in order to ensure timely preventive measures. In this regard, the Federal Flood Commission has issued a formal letter to the irrigation departments of all four provinces, directing them to carry out a detailed assessment of embankments and identify any weaknesses or defects, along with immediate corrective recommendations.

According to officials, a comprehensive report will be prepared based on the survey results and submitted to the commission so that necessary funding can be arranged and repair work can begin on time. The letter clearly states that all provinces must submit their reports by May 15 so that preventive measures can be finalized before the monsoon season.
