Malaysia Maintains Policy of Not Recognizing Israel

Kuala Lumpur (Monitoring Desk): Malaysia has once again announced that it will maintain its long-standing policy of not recognizing Israel.

According to media reports, Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan said that despite increasing pressure from the United States and demands by some members of the US Congress to review security and economic relations with Kuala Lumpur, there has been no change in Malaysia’s policy.

The Foreign Minister said that Malaysia’s Ambassador to the United States, Mohamed Shahrul Ikram Yaakob, explained Malaysia’s position after being summoned by the US State Department.

Mohamad Hasan stated that Malaysia’s policy regarding Israel is not a new decision but a long-standing official stance that has been maintained by successive governments.

According to Malaysia’s national news agency Bernama, the Foreign Minister said that the country continues to view this matter in accordance with its longstanding policies.

He said that Malaysia’s immigration policy does not recognize Israel or the Israeli state, and this position has remained unchanged for decades.

It should be noted that Malaysia is among the Muslim-majority countries that do not have diplomatic relations with Israel. In support of the Palestinian people, Malaysia also restricts entry for individuals holding Israeli passports.
