The film has been produced in response to a controversial Indian movie that portrayed Lyari negatively. In contrast, Mera Lyari presents the true identity of the area, focusing on its vibrant culture and positive aspects.
The film will be screened globally on May 2, 2026, at the 28th edition of the UK Asian Film Festival.
According to the filmmakers, the project aims to introduce the world to the culture, people, and everyday life of Lyari, highlighting its brighter side.
