New Battery Charges in 3 Minutes, Lasts 60,000 Cycles

California (Web Desk): For smartphone users, charging the battery is an essential part of everyday life. Normally, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours to fully charge a phone, depending on the battery’s fast-charging capability.

However, researchers at Flinders University in Australia have developed a new battery that can be fully charged in just 3 minutes and can also be used for a long period.

According to researchers, the new battery can be fully charged approximately 60,000 times, which is a significant advancement compared with current battery technology.

The new battery uses a different zinc- and iodine-based technology, while another important feature is that it does not pose a risk of catching fire.

Currently, lithium-ion batteries are commonly used in smartphones, which consist of two basic layers. One is made of lithium cobalt oxide and the other is composed of graphite.
