Islamabad (Commerce Desk) — Efforts are underway to create new opportunities for industrial development and investment in Gilgit-Baltistan through the initiatives of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), while relevant institutions are being brought together to develop the Maqpondass Special Economic Zone.
Under the project, the Maqpondass Special Economic Zone, covering an area of 250 acres, is being established through a public-private partnership.
The establishment of this economic zone will expand investment opportunities in agriculture, minerals, handicrafts and wood-based products, while also creating new employment opportunities.
The Maqpondass Special Economic Zone could play an important role in promoting investment, industrial activity and economic development in the region by harnessing Gilgit-Baltistan’s natural potential and facilitating access to Chinese markets.
