Islamabad (Pakistan Khabar) — On the directives of Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, orders have been issued to immediately begin fire safety inspections at all government hospitals under federal administration.
According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, an official letter has been issued in this regard. Hospitals will undergo detailed inspections by an expert and authorized fire safety company, covering fire alarms, firefighting equipment, emergency doors and evacuation routes.
During the inspections, potential causes of fire, including electrical systems, emergency response arrangements and the preparedness of hospital staff in the event of an accident will also be assessed.
The Ministry of Health has directed that any deficiencies identified during the inspections that could pose an immediate threat to human lives or property should be addressed on a priority basis.
All hospitals have been instructed to inform the Ministry of Health about the start of the inspection, the relevant fire safety company and the expected completion date of the process.
The Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority has also been tasked with initiating and monitoring fire safety audits at public and private healthcare institutions. The authority will submit a comprehensive report to the Ministry of Health, including details of institutions that have completed the audits and those where the process remains pending.
