Pakistan Establishes Foundation to Export Meat to 16 International Markets

Islamabad (Commerce Desk) — As a result of government policies, Pakistan has established meat export markets in 16 countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Uzbekistan, Iran and Qatar.

According to official documents, Pakistan’s existing meat export markets include Qatar, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Malaysia, Tajikistan, Jordan and China.

Uzbekistan has emerged as a growing market for Pakistan, where meat exports increased from approximately $15.1 million in fiscal year 2025 to $18 million in fiscal year 2026. During the same period, export volumes increased from 4,439 metric tons to 6,094 metric tons.

Pakistan’s exports of meat and poultry products to Saudi Arabia reached $191.5 million during fiscal year 2025-26.

The government is working with the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and the Animal Quarantine Department to further expand market access in China, Uzbekistan, Malaysia and Lebanon. Applications for market access for poultry products have been submitted to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, while the process is underway for Malaysia, China, Hong Kong and Vietnam.

Applications related to eggs used for food and breeding purposes in Saudi Arabia are also under consideration. For China, applications include the export of boiled chicken feet, processed chicken products and pasteurized eggs, while domestic registration documents have been submitted for Vietnam.

The campaign to increase exports is being supported by TDAP’s 24-month agricultural export marketing plan covering September 2026 to August 2028. The plan includes participation in international exhibitions, trade delegations, business networking, webinars, field seminars and meetings with buyers and regulatory delegations.

Under the plan, Pakistan will participate in various international exhibitions, including Saudi Food Show, SIAL Paris, Gulfood, SIAL Shanghai, Food Expo Kazakhstan, Oman AgroFood, Foodex Japan, SIAL Canada and Food Africa. FoodAg 2026 in Karachi has also been established as a platform for business networking, with buyers from 80 countries expected to participate.

The plan also includes 98 webinars and online business sessions for priority export sectors, along with 32 field seminars on export requirements and production.

Under sector-specific promotion, proposals also include sending trade delegations for meat, dairy and livestock to Thailand; dairy products to China; meat and dairy products to Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan and other Central Asian markets; and meat and livestock to Brazil.
