Lahore (Sports Desk) — The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has officially confirmed the participation of the national men’s football team in the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup being held this year, which is being considered a historic moment for Pakistan football.
According to the PFF, the national men’s football team will participate in a FIFA event for the first time, where it will get the opportunity to compete against strong teams at the international level.
The FIFA ASEAN Cup will be held in Indonesia in September and October this year. Pakistan will be included in the top tier of the tournament, where it is expected to face teams such as India, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
Pakistan is among the three countries that have been included in the event through a special invitation. The participating teams will be divided into two groups in the tournament.
PFF President Syed Mohsin Gilani said that after the national women’s team’s participation in the FIFA Series, the men’s team will now also take part in its first FIFA event, which is a significant milestone for Pakistan football.
He said that the tournament will provide the national team with an excellent opportunity to showcase its abilities against strong opponents and gain experience at the international level.
It is worth mentioning that the news of Pakistan’s participation in the FIFA ASEAN Cup was first reported on June 13, and it has now been officially confirmed by the Pakistan Football Federation.
