Pakistan Sees 20% Jump in ITU ICT Index 2026

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan has shown significant progress in the ITU ICT Development Index 2026, reflecting notable improvement in its digital performance, with the country’s overall score rising from 56.4 to 67.7, marking an increase of nearly 20 percent.

According to the report, Pakistan made substantial gains in the connectivity sector, recording an increase of 22.8 points, which lifted its meaningful connectivity score to 79. The country also improved its global ranking by approximately 27 positions.

Experts say this improvement in the ITU Index represents an important milestone in Pakistan’s digital journey and reflects the growing pace of technological development in the country.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja welcomed the development, stating that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government is giving special priority to the IT and telecom sector.

She said improved connectivity will create new opportunities for youth, students, freelancers, and businesses, while the government continues to work on providing affordable, reliable, and high-quality digital services across the country.

According to the federal minister, this improvement in the index not only reflects Pakistan’s digital progress but also sends a positive and encouraging message to foreign investors and technology companies.
