Pakistan to Engage with Afghanistan, Says No to China

Islamabad (Pakistan Khabar) – Pakistan has informed China that it will maintain its current policy of non-engagement with the Taliban government, as the Kabul administration has failed to change its stance regarding the presence of the banned TTP and other terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.

This indicates that Pakistan has rejected Beijing’s latest diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions with Afghanistan. China recently intensified its diplomatic initiative by sending a special envoy to Kabul and Islamabad to mediate between the two neighboring countries amid rising tensions. The special envoy is currently engaged in mediation efforts between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

According to a statement from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Wang Yi also held a phone conversation with Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister, Mullah Amir Khan Muttaqi, to discuss the situation. China expressed hope that both parties will exercise patience, conduct direct meetings, and implement a ceasefire to resolve disputes and disagreements through dialogue as soon as possible.

Beijing reaffirmed its commitment to actively continue efforts to foster reconciliation and reduce tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
