Islamabad (Pakistan Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that providing modern and convenient services to overseas Pakistanis is one of the government's top priorities.
The Prime Minister was briefed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on measures to improve services at Pakistani embassies, digitize the document attestation system, simplify the complaint registration process, and introduce a modern digital system for various services and payments from abroad.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistani ambassadors posted in different countries, the Ministry of Interior, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Ministry of Information Technology, and other relevant institutions, who shared updates on the progress made.
Shehbaz Sharif said that overseas Pakistanis are a valuable national asset. He added that a QR code system has already been introduced to simplify procedures related to power of attorney, property transactions, and document verification.
The Prime Minister directed that QR codes should be prominently displayed at Pakistani embassies and that a comprehensive awareness campaign should be launched to encourage overseas Pakistanis to register complaints through the new system so that more people can benefit from the facility.
The meeting was informed that an evening shift has been launched at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in Islamabad, while document attestation services are also being provided at the Asaan Khidmat Center.
In addition, a courier-based attestation system has been introduced, and the databases of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC), NADRA, and the National Police Bureau have been integrated into the system, making the verification process faster.
Officials further informed the meeting that document attestation is now being carried out under a one-stop service system. In the next phase, a mobile application is being developed to fully digitize the process, enabling online verification of official documents, including birth, death, marriage, and family registration certificates.
