Islamabad (Commerce Desk): The government has decided to export 108,000 metric tons of imported sugar.
Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer said the country has sufficient sugar stocks and that the sugar would be exported due to better prices in the international market, which would not affect domestic prices.
On the other hand, Awam Pakistan Party leader Miftah Ismail criticized the government’s sugar policy, saying that sugar was first exported, creating a shortage, then imported in excess, and now the imported sugar itself is being exported again, with the public bearing the cost.
