Lahore (Sports Desk): Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 31 runs in the women’s cricket event at the Asian Games to win the bronze medal.
In the third-place match, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 145 for eight. Captain Fatima Sana top-scored with 45 runs, while Gul Feroza scored 31 and Aliya Riaz made 25.
For Bangladesh, Nahida Akter, Shorna Akter and Ritu Moni took two wickets each, while Sanjida Akter claimed one wicket.
Chasing a target of 146, Bangladesh were restricted to 114 for seven. Sharmin Akhter remained unbeaten on 46, while Nigar Sultana scored 25.
For Pakistan, Umm-e-Hani took three wickets, while Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandhu, Ayesha Zafar and Tasmiya Rubab claimed one wicket each.
With Pakistan’s bronze medal in women’s cricket, the country’s tally of bronze medals at the Asian Games has reached two. Pakistan’s first bronze medal was won by Asim Khan in mixed martial arts the previous day.
