PM Orders Faster FBR Enforcement to Meet Tax Targets

Islamabad (Pakistan Khabar): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to accelerate enforcement measures to achieve tax targets.

A weekly review meeting on FBR reforms was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, during which directions were issued to further accelerate the implementation of reform measures. The Prime Minister also welcomed the growing confidence of the business community in tax reforms.

Shehbaz Sharif directed that the FBR Chairman and senior officials should also stay in Lahore for two days every month, in addition to Karachi. He said enforcement actions should be made more effective to achieve the prescribed revenue target and that action against smuggling, tax evasion and illegal businesses should continue.

The Prime Minister appreciated the FBR’s actions against illegal cigarette factories in Chakwal and Swabi. He also directed that honest officers and officials of good repute be appointed to all sensitive positions and departments of the FBR.

The Prime Minister stressed the timely completion of the proposed non-face-to-face system for domestic revenue and directed that its full implementation be ensured by 2027.
