Islamabad (Pakistan News) – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired a meeting to assess the impact of the Gulf crisis on petroleum products, current domestic fuel reserves, and ongoing public relief initiatives.
The Prime Minister stated that all possible measures are being taken to provide additional support to low- and middle-income groups, ensuring that economically vulnerable citizens are not left alone during this difficult period. Detailed briefings were presented on government efforts to conserve fuel, future action plans, and current stock levels.
It was reported that, in coordination with provincial governments, steps are being taken to complete ownership registration for motorcycles and rickshaws, so that relief reaches beneficiaries directly. The implementation status of the Prime Minister’s austerity and simplicity campaign was also presented through an Intelligence Bureau audit report.
The Prime Minister emphasized that public relief measures include reducing government expenditures, cutting the development budget, immediately halting 60% of government vehicles, and imposing additional levies on high-octane fuel for luxury vehicles. Relief is being delivered directly to citizens through digital systems.
The meeting confirmed that ample reserves of fuel and medicines are available for national needs, and timely decisions have ensured uninterrupted supply despite the global crisis. The Prime Minister also highlighted Pakistan’s active diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace.
