PM Wants to Meet Hafiz Naeem, Demand for Abolition of Petroleum Levy Continues: Rana Sanaullah

Islamabad (Pakistan News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wants to meet Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, in line with his promise, Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah has said.

Rana Sanaullah contacted Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch by telephone, and the two discussed negotiations over the abolition of the petroleum levy and the next steps in the matter.

During the conversation, Rana Sanaullah said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was keen to meet Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman.

Meanwhile, meetings of the negotiating committees are expected to take place before the meeting between the prime minister and the Jamaat-e-Islami emir. These meetings will focus on a clear agenda and key points concerning the abolition of the petroleum levy to help move the issue forward.

Liaquat Baloch said abolishing the petroleum levy would provide genuine relief to the public. He explained that the Super Long March had been paused at the prime minister’s request, but rallies against the petroleum levy and a campaign to collect public signatures on memorandums were continuing.

Baloch said Jamaat-e-Islami would continue its movement until a substantial relief package was secured for the public. He made it clear that protest activities would continue until the party’s demands, including the abolition of the petroleum levy, were accepted.
