Muzaffarabad (Pakistan Khabar) After the results of the reserved seats, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has gained a clear majority in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly, further strengthening its position to form the government.
On the technocrat seat, PML-N’s Barrister Iftikhar Gilani won with 26 votes, while Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Zulfiqar Ali received 12 votes. On the Ulema and Mashaikh seat, PML-N’s Muhammad Mazhar Saeed also secured victory with 26 votes, while PPP’s Hafiz Tariq received 12 votes.
Of the five reserved seats for women, PML-N’s Maryam Zaman, Maryam Idrees, and Seharish Qamar won three seats, while PPP’s Farzana Yaqoob and Zobia Khursheed Raja also secured seats.
Following the reserved-seat results, the number of PML-N members has increased to 32, while the PPP has 14 members. Abdul Rehman Arain had already been elected unopposed on the overseas seat.
With its success on the reserved seats, PML-N has secured a clear numerical majority in the Azad Kashmir Assembly, accelerating the process of government formation and preparations for the election of the prime minister.
