Punjab and US Consulate Agree to Expand Cultural Cooperation

Lahore (Pakistan News) — The Punjab Information and Culture Ministry and the US Consulate Lahore have agreed to further enhance mutual cooperation in the field of culture.

Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari held a meeting with US Consul General Lahore Stetson Sanders, which was also attended by Information Secretary Tahir Raza Hamdani and Political and Economic Counselor Sadaf Saad.

During the meeting, the US Consul General appreciated the establishment of Punjab Film City and the steps being taken for the promotion of theatre in the province. Discussions were also held on establishing a joint partnership between American artists and the Alhamra Arts Council in Lahore.

Uzma Bukhari briefed the US Consul General about various initiatives being taken by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

The Provincial Information Minister said that the Punjab government is taking historic measures for women, students, and farmers. She stated that under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program, a project to construct 170,000 houses is underway in the province.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Uzma Bukhari also presented a commemorative gift to the US Consul General.
