Islamabad (Pakistan News): National Assembly Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai has offered talks to the government, saying he is ready for all forms of negotiations to achieve a democratic Pakistan. He demanded permission to meet PTI founder Imran Khan and said he was willing to provide a written assurance that he would not disclose anything after the meeting.
Speaking at a press conference outside Parliament alongside Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and other leaders, Achakzai said an impression was being created that he did not want to meet Imran Khan. He clarified that he was willing to meet him anywhere, except at the Prime Minister’s House or the Speaker’s Office.
He said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was not even being allowed to protest or express its position. According to him, while he was raising his voice against constitutional violations, governor’s rule and an emergency were imposed in the province. He said Article 6 applies to those who violate the Constitution.
Criticizing the current government, Achakzai said political parties supporting these measures would also become part of history.
Achakzai argued that the situation in Balochistan was worse than the circumstances cited to justify imposing governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to him, half of Balochistan had become a no-go area for security forces, yet effective action was not being taken to address the situation there.
Describing governor’s rule as a major assault, he announced that opposition parties would begin protests across the country the following day, according to their respective political capacities. He said peaceful demonstrations would be held in every district, while the opposition would keep the door open for negotiations alongside its struggle against the current system.
The opposition leader added that vigorous protests would be held in districts where an emergency had not been imposed. He claimed that the voting rights of 40 million people had been ridiculed.
He also alleged that the government wanted to force Imran Khan to leave the country. However, he maintained that Pakistan would progress only when Parliament was strong.
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan’s Position
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said October 11 would be remembered as a black day in the country’s democratic history. According to him, the chief minister had been detained, while the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rejected the emergency and governor’s rule.
He said individuals associated with PTI’s ideology were in prison. The party’s parliamentary committee would meet the following day to decide its future course of action. He added that the party would raise its voice against undemocratic measures on every available forum.
Barrister Gohar demanded the reversal of the measures taken on October 11 and said the public should not be divided in the fight against terrorism. He stressed that Pakistan’s future was tied to democracy and that the federation would become stronger only when its provinces were strong.
He alleged that the government had acted stubbornly and abruptly changed the government machinery, despite contacts with the authorities continuing until the last moment.
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas’s Statement
Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said they were dealing with people who, in his view, relied on deception and lies. He alleged that the unanimously adopted Constitution was being made controversial and that political workers were being equated with terrorists.
He said they had to contend with people who violated the Constitution. He maintained that all political forces should join hands with the people of the province in the fight against terrorism.
Describing the situation in Balochistan as even worse, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas also spoke about imposing an emergency there. He said the situation had escalated considerably and warned that conditions could deteriorate further if the public did not stand together.
