Strong winds and rains wreak havoc in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2 dead, 31 injured

Peshawar (Pakistan News) Due to strong winds, storms, and rainfall in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, incidents of wall and roof collapses have resulted in at least 2 deaths and 31 injuries so far.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a preliminary report on the damages caused by yesterday’s strong winds, storms, and rain.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, the number of deaths and injuries has increased due to storms, rain, and in some areas lightning strikes. The deceased include 2 men, while the injured include 7 women, 16 men, and 8 children.

The incidents occurred in various districts including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, and Bannu. The PDMA said that district administrations and relevant agencies are on alert and are continuously monitoring the situation.

Authorities have directed local administrations in affected areas to provide immediate relief to the victims and speed up rescue and relief operations.

According to the PDMA, the current spell of rain and strong winds is expected to continue intermittently until June 5.

The Emergency Operations Center is fully active, and citizens have been urged to contact 1700 in case of any emergency or report.
