Washington (Monitoring Desk) — US President Donald Trump has become furious over not receiving the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, describing the decision to award it to South African legal expert Navi Pillay as disgraceful and an indelible stain on Norway.
Addressing an election rally for Republican candidates in Syracuse, New York, Trump said he should have received the Nobel Peace Prize while representing the United States, but that did not happen. According to him, the decision has discredited Norway and those responsible for awarding the prize.
The US president described Navi Pillay as someone nobody knows and also criticised the Nobel Committee. He said the award had been disgraced by a few ideological individuals who oppose democracy and civilisation. Trump warned that the United States would not forget Norway’s decision.
Trump claimed that he had played a role in bringing several wars to an end. However, his role in resolving conflicts and some of his claims have also been disputed.
It is worth mentioning that Navi Pillay was awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her contributions to international law, human rights, and holding those responsible for war crimes and genocide accountable. She previously served as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and has also worked as a judge at international courts.
