Washington (Monitoring Desk): US President Donald Trump has said that Iran is seeking compensation from the United States for damages caused by the five-month war that ended on the condition that Iran would not develop nuclear weapons. However, the US will also demand compensation from Iran for war-related damages.
In a statement posted on social media, Donald Trump said the United States would seek compensation for American citizens killed and injured in Iranian attacks. According to him, victims of operations carried out under the leadership of General Qassem Soleimani should also receive compensation.
The US president said the families of those killed in the USS Cole attack should also be compensated, while the families of people killed in protests in Iran over the past 50 years are also entitled to compensation.
Trump claimed that 52,000 people had been killed in Iran during the past five months. He made it clear that the demand for compensation for war damages from Iran would formally become part of all future negotiations.
The US president said that if Iran demands compensation from the United States for war damages, the US will also demand compensation from Iran for its losses.
