Washington (Monitoring Desk) — US President Donald Trump’s public approval rating has fallen further to 33 percent, being described as the lowest level of his political career so far.
According to a latest Reuters survey, dissatisfaction with the president’s performance is growing among Americans. The ongoing war with Iran and Trump’s economic policies are being cited among the major reasons for the decline in his approval rating.
According to the survey, a large number of Americans are also dissatisfied with the Trump administration’s efforts to control inflation and the rising cost of living. Around 71 percent of Americans expressed dissatisfaction with the president’s approach to dealing with inflation and increasing expenses.
The decline in Trump’s approval rating comes as preparations are underway in the United States for the November midterm elections. The elections will feature key contests for seats in the House of Representatives and Senate, prompting both major parties to closely monitor the president’s popularity and public trends.
The Reuters poll also showed encouraging trends for Democrats among independent voters. Thirty-six percent of independent voters said they intended to vote for Democratic candidates in the midterm elections, while 22 percent indicated support for Republican candidates.
Independent voters hold decisive importance in US electoral politics because they are not permanently affiliated with either major party. Their preferences can influence election results in several key states and constituencies.
