Washington (Monitoring Desk): U.S. President Donald Trump has strongly reacted to the recent U.S. Senate vote on the War Powers Act related to Iran, calling it meaningless and expressing anger over the decision.
In his statement, President Trump said that he has placed Iran under complete pressure and, according to him, the country is on the brink of defeat. He claimed that Iran is currently willing to accept U.S. demands and, for the first time in decades, is showing respect toward the United States and its president.
Trump said the Senate’s recent vote was unnecessary and a waste of time, adding that it sends the wrong message to Iran that the United States is not satisfied with its own actions. According to him, the decision has strengthened the enemy.
He also criticized some Republican senators, saying their actions have made his job more difficult, but insisted that he will achieve his objectives regardless.
It is worth noting that the U.S. Senate passed a joint resolution related to blocking military action against Iran with 50 votes against 48, after it had already been approved by the House of Representatives.
