Peshawar (Pakistan Khabar) — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that the provincial police will not be allowed to operate like the Punjab Police, and effective relief for the public will be ensured.
A meeting chaired by the chief minister was held to review police performance in the province, during which a briefing was given on police affairs and the redressal of public complaints.
The meeting was informed that the complaint cell received a total of 3,551 complaints from January to August, of which 498 could not be acted upon due to legal complications.
Sohail Afridi directed that citizens be fully informed about the relief being provided to the public through the complaint cell.
The chief minister also took notice of the incident involving disorder during a students’ protest at Peshawar’s Postgraduate College of Nursing and alleged police violence against students.
He made it clear that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands, and action would be taken in accordance with the law against those involved in the nursing college incident.
