California (Web Desk) — WhatsApp has begun rolling out a new feature for Android users that allows them to watch status updates at double speed, enabling them to view more people’s statuses in less time.
According to technology reports, the feature has appeared in WhatsApp’s Android beta version 2.26.40.4 on the Google Play Store. Initially, it is being made available to a limited number of beta users, with more users expected to receive it in the coming weeks.
To use the feature, users need to press and hold the right side of the screen while viewing a status. This temporarily doubles the playback speed. As soon as they lift their finger, the speed returns to normal.
There is no need to change any permanent settings to use this feature, and users can activate it as needed while viewing each status. This will help them watch longer status updates and review more updates in less time.
According to reports, status updates containing audio can last up to 30 seconds, meaning that viewing statuses from multiple contacts can take considerable time. The new feature is being introduced to make this process faster and easier.
It is worth noting that reports about testing or the availability of this feature had previously emerged in relation to iPhone users as well. However, it is being rolled out gradually to Android users, so it may not be immediately available to everyone.
