YouTube introduces new messaging feature

California (Web Desk) YouTube has started rolling out its new in-app messaging feature on a large scale after completing its testing phase, aiming to allow users to directly discuss videos within the platform.

Under the new system, a messaging icon has been added to the top-right corner of the YouTube app, enabling users to share videos, short clips, and live streams, as well as chat privately with each other.

However, the feature includes a strong security and control system. According to the company, users must first send an invitation message before starting any direct conversation.

This invitation remains valid for seven days and can also be shared through other messaging apps, with the aim of facilitating communication mainly between friends and family rather than strangers.

According to YouTube, users showed strong interest in this feature during its experimental phase last year.

It is worth noting that a similar messaging service was previously available until 2019 but was later discontinued.

Under the new system, when a user clicks an invitation, they are given options to either accept or decide later. The feature is therefore more focused on sharing and discussing videos rather than functioning as a full social chat platform.
