YouTube Shorts Adds Photo Story Feature

California (Web Desk): YouTube has introduced new updates to its Shorts platform, allowing users to create and share image-based content more easily.

According to foreign media reports, the new features aim to enable users to create photo-based stories alongside videos and share them on the Shorts feed, making content creation more diverse and accessible.

Under the new feature, users will be able to create slideshow-style posts containing up to 10 images. These posts can include text overlays as well as background music of up to 15 seconds, allowing users to produce engaging content without full video editing.

YouTube officials said the main goal of these changes is to give users simpler and more creative ways to share content on the Shorts platform.

The feature is in some ways similar to Instagram and TikTok photo post formats, which have already gained significant popularity.

In addition, YouTube has announced several interface changes for Shorts, including a “Clear Screen Mode” that temporarily hides icons and text while watching videos to keep focus on the content.

Users will also be able to watch Shorts at 2x speed. The like button is being updated from a thumbs-up icon to a heart icon.

The company has also decided to remove the dislike button, replacing it with options such as “Not Interested” and “Don’t Recommend This Channel” to give users better control over their viewing experience.
