18 US Troops Killed, 624 Injured in Iran War

Washington (Monitoring Desk): The US Department of Defense, Pentagon, has released new details regarding American military casualties in the ongoing war against Iran. According to the report, 18 US soldiers have been killed and 624 personnel have been injured since the start of the war.

On Saturday, the Pentagon updated its Defense Casualty Analysis System, adding records of more than 140 newly injured troops. In addition, four US personnel killed in recent Iranian attacks have also been added back to the official casualty list.

According to US media reports, the Pentagon has also introduced a new category in its records called “Overseas Military Operations,” under which casualties of troops killed and injured in overseas operations after July 7 are being recorded separately.

The report stated that if the figures from the new category are combined with the records of “Operation Epic Fury,” a total of 18 US military personnel have been killed and 624 injured in the war against Iran since February 28.

According to the Pentagon, among those killed, 11 belonged to the US Army, 6 to the Air Force, and one to the Navy.

Among the injured personnel, 461 are from the Army, 86 from the Navy, 58 from the Air Force, and 19 from the Marine Corps.

US media and some members of Congress had criticized the Pentagon, alleging that despite Iranian attacks, the initial official records showed lower numbers of killed and injured military personnel.

The Pentagon’s new “Overseas Military Operations” category includes casualties after July 7; however, the report did not clarify which specific military operation or conflict each incident was related to.
