Islamabad (Pakistan Desk) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi has said that effective implementation of judicial decisions is essential for improving the justice system, adding that reform is not possible through rulings alone but through their execution.
Speaking at the National Conference on Prison Reforms organized by the Supreme Court under the National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC), he said accountability within the justice system is being strengthened.
The Chief Justice noted that prisons reflect the true state of the criminal justice system, and meaningful reforms require collective responsibility and active participation of provincial leadership.
He added that coordinated efforts under the NJPMC National Action Plan are being implemented to ensure effective execution of reforms.
The conference was attended by chief ministers of all four provinces, members of the judiciary, federal and provincial officials, prison authorities, human rights bodies, and law enforcement agencies.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to prisoner rehabilitation, modernization of prison management, and strengthening federal-provincial cooperation. The conference concluded with the approval of a declaration outlining the future roadmap for prison reforms, signed by all provincial chief ministers.
