Weekly Inflation Rises by 0.15 Percent

Islamabad (Commerce Desk) — According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the weekly inflation rate in the country increased by 0.15 percent during the second week of August 2026, taking annual inflation to 9.11 percent.

According to the report, out of 51 essential commodities, prices of 20 increased during the week, prices of nine decreased, while the prices of 22 items remained stable.

On a weekly basis, the price of onions recorded a significant increase of 24.68 percent, while gram lentils rose by 3.35 percent, chicken by 2.45 percent, and LPG by 0.67 percent. Prices of tea, mustard oil, yogurt, and masoor lentils also increased.

On an annual basis, the price of tomatoes increased by 143.77 percent, onions by 125.75 percent, and wheat flour by 77.41 percent. LPG became 55.41 percent more expensive, diesel 34.05 percent, and petrol 23.02 percent.

On the other hand, on a weekly basis, petrol became 2.35 percent cheaper, tomatoes 1.26 percent, potatoes 0.73 percent, and diesel 0.29 percent. Prices of bananas, moong lentils, eggs, and sugar also declined.

On an annual basis, potatoes became 30 percent cheaper, sugar 17.93 percent, and chicken 17.45 percent, while prices of gram lentils, eggs, and moong lentils also declined.
