Karachi/Islamabad (Commerce Desk): Talks between the government and goods transporters ended without a result, after which transporters announced that they would continue their strike.
The talks in Islamabad were attended by Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, Petroleum Minister Parvez Ali Malik, the Minister for Maritime Affairs and representatives of the Finance Ministry. The All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance was represented by President Malik Shehzad Awan and other leaders.
During the talks, the two sides failed to reach an agreement on key issues, and the deadlock remained.
After the talks, All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance President Malik Shehzad Awan said that despite discussions with the federal and Sindh governments, no final progress had been made on the transporters’ demands.
He said that due to the failure of the negotiations, it had been decided to continue the protest. The strike would not be called off until the demands were accepted, and transporters would not take even a single step back from their demands.
According to Malik Shehzad Awan, detailed discussions were held with representatives of the federal and Sindh governments, but the deadlock continued due to the lack of consensus on key matters.
