Karachi (Sports Desk): Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has expressed disappointment over Karachi’s current condition, saying that he feels deeply ashamed when he sees the state of the city.
Speaking on former Test cricketer Fawad Alam’s podcast, Shahid Afridi described his decision to leave Karachi and move to Islamabad as a difficult one. He said Karachi is a city of good people and that he spent a very good time there, but Islamabad is a better city in terms of infrastructure and weather.
Shahid Afridi said he does not miss Karachi itself, but he greatly misses its people. According to him, it is unfortunate to see the current condition of a city that generates billions of rupees in business and provides employment to millions of people.
He said it is amusing to hear someone describe Karachi as “Paris.” According to Shahid Afridi, Shahrah-e-Bhutto has been constructed well, but many more measures are needed to improve the city, and the public cannot be satisfied on the basis of just one project.
Regarding entering politics, the former captain said that at one point he intended to enter politics, but changed his decision in 2019 and now does not consider politics to be his field.
