Mumbai (Showbiz Desk): Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankit Baliyan was shot dead by unidentified armed men outside a gym in India’s Uttar Pradesh state. According to Indian media reports, Ankit Baliyan was leaving a gym within the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station in Shamli district when attackers riding two motorcycles fired multiple shots at him, killing him at the scene.
Police shifted the body for post-mortem examination and are reviewing surveillance camera footage from the site to identify the suspects.
Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister described the incident as an attack on the Jat community. Media reports also claimed that Ankit Baliyan intended to contest the upcoming local elections, but police and his close relatives did not confirm the claim.
Ankit Baliyan had more than 366,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel.
