Iran rejects talks on missiles, drones program

Tehran (Monitoring Desk): Iran’s acting Defence Minister has made it clear that the country’s defence capabilities, including its missile programme and drone technology, are core national security matters and will not be part of any negotiations with the United States or any other country.

According to international media reports, Majid Ibn al-Raza said that Iran’s defence, missile, and drone capabilities are “red lines” for the Islamic Republic, and no discussion or compromise is possible on these issues at any stage.

He added that Iran will not only maintain its current defence systems but will also continue to further advance and strengthen its missile and drone programmes in the future.

According to him, Iran’s military strength guarantees its sovereignty and security, and therefore cannot be included in any international negotiations.

The statement comes at a time when Iran and the United States are engaged in diplomatic and technical discussions on various issues, although Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed that talks will remain limited to agreed topics.

Political observers say Iran’s position highlights that while diplomatic contacts exist between Tehran and Washington, defence and military matters remain strictly non-negotiable for Iran.
