Lahore (Sports Desk) — Sri Lankan cricket team captain Kusal Mendis has said that Pakistan’s fast bowlers are talented and facing them is a challenge.
Speaking at a press conference in Rawalpindi, Kusal Mendis said Sri Lanka’s T20 squad consists of young players who have performed well in domestic cricket. As captain, he has complete confidence in his players.
The Sri Lankan captain said that Gary Kirsten is familiar with the Sri Lankan cricket environment and is guiding the team in its preparations for the ODI and T20 World Cups.
Commenting on the Rawalpindi pitch, Kusal Mendis said the wicket appeared to be favourable for batting and, according to the initial plan, the team would take the field with three fast bowlers.
He added that Sri Lanka’s bowling squad is strong and experienced. However, given the abilities of Pakistan’s fast bowlers, facing them is not easy.
Speaking about Babar Azam, Kusal Mendis described him as an excellent player and said he had played alongside him in the Pakistan Super League.
He said Babar Azam might be disappointed at not being selected for the team, as he is regarded as one of the best players across all formats.
