ISLAMABAD (Commerce Desk) – Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and promoting cross-border trade, agreeing to raise the volume of mutual trade to $10 billion.
According to a statement issued by the Board of Investment, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghaddam met Federal Minister for Investment Board Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, where detailed discussions were held on bilateral economic relations, investment, and various aspects of border trade.
During the meeting, the federal minister assured full cooperation with relevant institutions to remove obstacles in the way of economic collaboration.
The statement added that Iran also offered Pakistan access to Central Asian states, while both sides agreed to move forward with joint economic projects.
The two parties emphasized increasing border trade through joint measures and also discussed a proposal to raise the number of daily cross-border trade trucks to 2,000.
