Karachi (Showbiz Desk) Renowned Pakistani qawwali singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has responded to criticism over performing qawwali near the grave of legendary singer Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on his death anniversary.
Speaking in a YouTube program, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan said that some social media users criticize out of a sense of love, while those unfamiliar with qawwali traditions criticize the practice.
He said he follows his family heritage and a century-old tradition. According to him, this practice is common among qawwali families, and he has no regrets about following it.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan clarified that he was not standing inside the grave but was performing qawwali while standing around it, with complete respect maintained throughout the performance. He said his manner also reflected that respect.
Expressing regret, he said he could not believe that even someone among his own relatives had said so much against him. He further revealed that Quran recitation and prayers had also been arranged before the qawwali.
