Nagoya (Sports Desk) — Indian hockey umpire and technical official Gurinder Singh Singha was sent back to India from Japan after multiple alleged sexual harassment complaints emerged during the Asian Games.
According to Indian media, during his stay in Nagoya, allegations of inappropriate behavior toward a female hockey official from Malaysia and a hotel employee emerged against Gurinder Singh Singha.
A Hockey India official confirmed that Gurinder Singh Singha was sent back to India two days ago after the Malaysian female official filed a sexual harassment complaint against him.
According to the official, necessary action will be taken against the umpire after the Asian Hockey Federation’s detailed report is received. If the allegations are proven in the report, strict action will be taken against him.

According to media reports, this is not the first complaint of this nature against Gurinder Singh Singha. In 2025, a female umpire had also filed a complaint against him during the Hockey India League in Ranchi.
Hockey India later formed a three-member committee to investigate the matter. However, during the investigation, the committee found no concrete evidence against him.
