Lahore (Sports Desk) — Pakistan Test team captain Shan Masood is likely to retain his leadership role for the upcoming tours of West Indies and England.
According to details, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) red-ball players’ pre-season camp has concluded in Lahore. Sources said that the squad for both series is expected to be announced on July 6 or 7.
Officials are considering retaining Shan Masood as captain, while Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan have recovered from fitness issues and will be available for selection.
The PCB is also considering announcing the squad through a press conference this time, with one to two changes expected in the lineup.
Sources added that more fast bowlers may be included keeping in mind the conditions in West Indies and England, while spinner Sajid Khan is considered a strong candidate. Ali Usman may also be under consideration.
Young players Abdullah Fazal and Azan Awais could be given opportunities.
A final training camp in Islamabad is scheduled from July 9 to August 12, while the team is expected to depart for the West Indies on July 13.
