Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha passes away at the age of 47

Bangkok (Monitoring Desk) The Royal Palace of Thailand has announced that Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, has passed away at the age of 47.

The princess had been in a coma for the past four years due to a severe illness and had been facing multiple medical complications. According to the Royal Palace, in December 2022 she suffered a sudden collapse caused by a heart condition during an outing, after which she was immediately transferred to the capital Bangkok for treatment.

Her condition later developed further complications, including severe infections, intestinal inflammation, low blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, and blood clotting issues, which ultimately led to her death.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha, commonly known as Princess Bha, was born in 1978. She was well known for her public service, welfare work for women prisoners, and diplomatic responsibilities.

She obtained her higher education from Cornell University, completing master’s and doctoral degrees in law. From 2006 to 2011, she served as a lawyer in the Office of the Attorney General of Thailand.

She later served as Thailand’s ambassador to various European countries and subsequently rejoined the Office of the Attorney General. She also established a welfare organization for female prisoners and was appointed as a goodwill ambassador for the rule of law in Southeast Asia by a United Nations agency in 2017. Later, she also joined the Thai military and held senior military responsibilities.
