Washington (Monitoring Desk) — US President Donald Trump has rejected Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s request for military action against the Houthis.
According to US news website Axios, the Saudi Crown Prince contacted the US president twice by telephone yesterday over the threat posed by the Houthis in the Red Sea.
According to the report, Mohammed bin Salman urged Trump to take action against the Houthis, but the US president refused to accept the request.
Axios says US military and civilian officials have been in contact with their Saudi counterparts for the past few weeks. In this regard, US Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper arrived in Saudi Arabia yesterday to participate in emergency coordination meetings.
According to the US news website, the Saudi Embassy in Washington and the White House have declined to comment on the matter.
It should be noted that a few days ago, Yemen’s Houthi group Ansar Allah carried out attacks on Saudi Arabia, injuring 73 people, including women and children.
