Turkey-Israel Rivalry Deepens: Economist Report

London (Monitoring Desk) – A report by the British magazine The Economist says that rising tensions between Turkey and Israel in the Middle East are turning into a major regional rivalry, with both countries increasingly viewing each other as a security challenge.

According to the report, Israel is concerned about Turkey’s growing influence and military presence in Syria, while Turkey’s defense cooperation with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Egypt is being seen as a significant development in the region’s shifting strategic balance.

The Economist further noted that Israel’s decision to recognize the Armenian genocide has added further strain to bilateral relations. Israeli political circles are now reportedly comparing Turkey with Iran, reflecting growing distrust.

The report also highlights concerns in Israel over the possible sale of F-35 fighter jets (F-35 Lightning II) to Turkey by the United States, as Israel considers its military superiority essential for national security.

Analysts say the current situation suggests that differences between the two countries are no longer limited to diplomacy but are evolving into a broader strategic rivalry that could affect regional security.
