Karachi (Sports Desk) — Former Pakistan cricketer Urooj Mumtaz has attributed the decline of Pakistan’s fast bowling largely to batting-friendly pitches in domestic cricket.
Speaking to Michael Atherton, she said the pitches prepared in the country do not provide fast bowlers with a suitable challenge, giving them fewer opportunities to develop their skills.
According to Urooj Mumtaz, greater focus was placed on flat pitches during Babar Azam’s captaincy, while grass was also removed from first-class pitches to create favorable conditions for batsmen.
Referring to Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf, she said domestic pitches must provide genuine challenges to fast bowlers to preserve Pakistan’s fast-bowling potential.
