Lahore (Sports Desk) — Israeli footballer Saeed Abu Farhachi was shown a red card for celebrating controversially after scoring a goal in the Nations League match against Austria.
At the beginning of the second half, Abu Farhachi scored to level the match at 1-1. After scoring, he went toward the corner, removed the corner flag, knelt down, placed the flag on his hand and made a gesture resembling gunfire.
Just four minutes after showing him the first yellow card, the referee issued Abu Farhachi a second yellow card and sent him off the field. Austria took advantage of its one-player advantage and won the match 3-1.
Romano Schmid scored Austria’s opening goal from a penalty, while Philipp Mwene and Sasa Kalajdzic scored in the final moments to secure Austria’s victory.
