Islamabad (Commerce Desk): The government has decided to fully convert Unit-1 of the Jamshoro Power Plant from imported coal to locally produced Thar lignite coal.
According to the Power Division, a feasibility study report prepared by Dornier Group and EY Parthenon has been presented to Federal Minister for Energy Owais Leghari.
The report states that the project is expected to save $3.239 billion over the next 26 years, along with $2.113 billion in foreign exchange savings.
The Power Division said the project is economically beneficial, technically feasible, and environmentally manageable. It is also expected to create employment opportunities in Tharparkar, improve infrastructure, and strengthen the energy sector.
